EXTRA PAINTING RESEARCH - Enrico Baj

Really electric bright colours and bold/simplistic shapes
Love the use of texture, really rough and almost grungy- could replicate with a mixture of acrylic and oil pastel on top
Not planning on using 3d elements like Baj for this piece but is interesting to look at for if I take painting as a specialism. Instead I want to focus on colour and creating a texture with the paint so as to not include too many elements for the time frame.
Almost reminds me of the 80s/dramatic club kid/disco culture (e.g: the outfits and makeup of Grace Jones) - so surprising artist was born quite a lot before that. I could use these inspirations for the imagery of my work (cityscapes, nightclubs, performers - combine this with the religious imagery in works I had seen from national theatre)
As for compositions, will not take inspirations from Baj, but will instead look at medieval religious art- Baj's compositions are more modern
