Oleg Soroko

Oleg's technique can be used both for smaller furnishings and for larger structural / architectural works. I found this really interesting as it would fit with my concept of having a bookshelf embedded into the structure of a house.

Whilst my original intention was to have rougher / harsher lines more closely in response to the prompt word of "cut", I felt that this kind of calmer / more fluid use of shape would better fit a piece of furniture and would fit more naturally into a home.

I intend to use similar shapes in the creation of a bookshelf that is indented into the wall, with fluid shapes helping to create a natural transition from the wall to the bookshelf. I will use cardboard to create a similar texture to that of Soroko. However, I do plan on utilising more colours than Soroko. I intend to use earthy / jewel tones to once again create a calmer atmosphere to better fit a piece of furniture.

My design will be on a larger scale but will not be life sized. The ideal plan would be for the textures and bookshelf to span an entire wall, however this will have to be scaled down due to time constraints.
