Reflections

What went well:

- I did enjoy taking photos of details around the room. It was really interesting to break up parts of the room into shape/line/colour and also made me think in a more artistic / abstract way. This was especially in focusing on the light travelling around the room

What could I have improved on:

- I definitely needed to focus more on how to light my photos in order to create striking images. For example, although I enjoyed using natural light to make the colours of the chairs more vivid, upon seeing other group's works I would have lit my objects differently. (e.g: using a more calculated light source and setting the photos to black and white could have made the lines and curvatures of the chairs a lot more pronounced and impactful).

How did artist research help inform my photos?

- It was difficult to capture the extreme emotion of Moffatt's work. However it was difficult to do this with the limited subject matter we could source- If I were to do photography I would definitely focus on imagery that can evoke a stronger emotion or message (not to say that still life photography does not evoke these things)

- In addition, I did think about creating an erratic / blurry effect by changing the frame rate (in a similar way to Tracey Moffatt). However, I felt that this would not match the simple and clean lines of the subject matter I was photographing such as the clean lines of the chairs or the light hitting the floor.

Thoughts on specialising in PTBM:

- I definitely think that my creative way of thinking isn't best suited to the fine art area. Whilst I love working creatively to my own ideas, I work better in more figurative ways and did struggle a little with the fine art area's emphasis on fragmentation/abstraction.

- Because of this I feel I may be better suited to design or communication, as I find you can communicate your meaning in an easier / less vague way.
